Objective

This guide explains how to manage your Microsoft NCE subscriptions within the Marketplace. Specifically, it details the process for decreasing license quantities or cancelling a subscription and explains the restrictions you may encounter due to Microsoft's New Commerce Experience (NCE) terms of service.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Ingram Micro Xvantage Marketplace.
  • You must be logged in with a user account that has subscription management permissions.

Instructions

  1. Login to the Marketplace (link)
From your main Dashboard, locate the Marketplace tile on the right-hand side of the screen and click the [BROWSE] button.
  2. Select the Subscription
On the Marketplace or Services page, locate the specific subscription you wish to modify.
(e.g., Microsoft Teams Premium (NCE COM MTH))
  3. Access Management Settings
Click on the subscription name to open the details page. On the right-hand side, under the "Subscription details" panel, click the [MANAGE SUBSCRIPTION] button.
  4. Modify License Quantity
You will be directed to the subscription management page.
    • If you are within the cancellation window (first 7 days): You will see options to decrease quantities or cancel the subscription.
    • If you are outside the cancellation window: The system will block these changes (see Important Note below).

NCE Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to decrease licenses or cancel, you may see the following error message at the top of the screen:

"According to the terms of service, this subscription cannot be cancelled. Turn off auto-renewal and wait until the subscription expires."

Why am I seeing this?

Under Microsoft's New Commerce Experience (NCE) rules, customers are financially committed to the subscription term (monthly or annual). You can only reduce license counts or cancel the subscription within the first 168 hours (7 days) of the initial purchase or renewal.

Resolution

If the cancellation window has passed, you cannot immediately reduce the license count. To prevent future charges:

  1. On the Manage Subscription page, locate the Auto-Renewal setting.
  2. Toggle Auto-Renewal to OFF.
  3. The subscription will remain active with the current license count until the Expiration Date shown on the screen.
