- Log in to the marketplace with your account
- Select the "Azure Plan" service and in the bottom left corner click "+ NEW"
- Select "Order Service". Under "Customers" keep your company selected and under "Company Structure" keep "Azure Plan" selected
- Click [Next] and Select the type of Azure Reserved Instance you want to add
- Click [Next], Read the Terms and Conditions and click [Next] again. You will now see the order screen for the Reserverd Instances. In this example we will make a reservation for an Azure Virtual Machine (VM)
- Under "Owner Permissions" select the users who will have owner permissions for these Reserved Instances (RI)
- Use "Reservation Name" to give the RI a meaningfull name
- Under Product Catalogue choose the vendor for which the reservation you want to make. For Microsoft this is "Azure Reservations" other vendors, like VMWare and Redhat are listed in the dropdown
- Under Product Segment choose the type of reservation, like "Azure Reservations VM" for Azure Virtual Machines you want toe make
- The filed Product will alow to select the applicable family within the choosen RI, for example "Virtual Machines Bsv2 Series"
- Under Region select the Region in which the RI should be available. For example EU West
- Using Quantity/Vcoresyou can select either
- The number of Vcores in case of SQL Server
or - The number of VMs
- The number of Vcores in case of SQL Server
- Using SKUthe exact SKU for the RI can be selected. To easily find the right SKU filters for "3 years", "Fluctuating", "1 year" and "Stable" can be used
- Important: For SKUs that are marked as "Stable" Microsoft will not adjust pricing based on Dollar to Euro Exchange Rates. This is why these SKUs are overall somewhat more expensive than "Fluctuating" where pricing will be periodically adjusted by Microsoft based on the Dollar to Euro Exchange Rate.
- Tick the Notify Me box to get notified of when the Reserved Instance has been created
- Leave the Billing information as is and click [Next] to review the order
- Click [Finish] to complete the order. Reserved instances are visible in the Azure Admin Portal for those with permissions via this link; https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_Reservations/ReservationsBrowseBlade/productType/Reservations
