To be able to visualize your Microsoft Cloud Data in C-Facts a Datasource connector needs to be added that connects your Azure Consumption and Billing data with the C-Facts Dashboard. For more information, see this video.
The way C-Facts, currently, works requires a joint session between the Client and Eden Akers. These are the steps for setting up the Datasource:
- Schedule a short 15 minute call with the Client and Eden Akers
During the Call - The Client needs to have a supported browser (Edge or Chrome) open and be signed in as an Azure Global admin for the Azure Plan for which the C-Facts Dataconnector will need to be setup
- In a new Tab in the same browser session Eden Akers will sign in with their account to the C-Facts Cost Control Center and go through the steps of adding a DataSource.
- In the C-Facts Control Center select "Data Sources"
- Click the Add (+) button in the lower right corner to add a New Datasource
- Select "Azure"
- Name the Datasource, Choose the Account type ("Indirect Azure Connector") and keep the Billing Cycle on "First Day of Billing Cycle"
- And now the reason why this needs to be done jointly with the client; click "Click here to give access to the application"
- If required, sign in with an account that has Global Admin Privileges to the Azure Subscription for which you want to connect the billing data with C-Facts
- Accept the requested Permissions
- Close the Window and click the "Click here to give consent" button
- If required, sign in with an account that has Global Admin Privileges to the Azure Subscription for which you want to connect the billing data with C-Facts
- Accept the requested permissions
- As per these instructions, link, grant the C-Facts Service Principal Reader permissions on the subscription
