To manually assign a single license to a user in Office 365 you can follow the following steps:
- Start your browser and go to http://admin.microsoft.com
- In the left menu select "Users" followed by "Active Users"
- Scroll through the list of users or use the Search function to find the user you want to change the license for:
- Select the to be modified user from the list and click Manage Product Licenses, which will become available once a user is selected:
- Under "Licenses" tick the box of the license you want to assign to the user:
- Click [Save Changes]. If the license update is successful the "Save Changes" button changes to a check-mark:
Note: If you have added a suite of licenses, such as Office 365 Enterprise 3 or Office 365 Business Premium, you can configure which of the products ("Apps" as Microsoft calls them) in the suite will become available to your users by granting them the license or not by removing the license(s):

- Scroll down in the right pane window until you see "Apps":
optionally you can filter Apps based upon the license you select under "Show apps for" - Select or Unselect the Apps you want to license for this specific user. Selected Apps are indicated by a ticket box. Unselected Apps by an Unselected box:
- Click [Save Changes]. If the license update is successful the "Save Changes" button changes to a check-mark:
